Internet Marketing From The Real Experts
I’m excited to say that an article I wrote is included in the book Internet Marketing From The Real Experts, edited by Shawn Collins & Missy Ward. This is the first book to be published under the Velocity NYC Press imprint by Morgan James Publishing. The official author is “The Gang of 88” as the book is a compilation of articles written for and printed in FeedFront Magazine. The book was given out to attendees of Affiliate Summit West 2010 and boasts 3 minute lessons on affiliate marketing, email marketing, search engine optimization, social media, and much more!
My article on Affiliate Manager Communication Strategies appears on page 15. Unfortunately since I wrote that article towards the beginning of FeedFront’s publication, it says I’m the marketing manager for PsPrint.com, which if you follow my blog you know that’s not true anymore. Oh well! I’m excited to be part of the gang of 88, and look forward to reading the entire book (well, the articles I haven’t already read in FeedFront).
From the back of the book:
What do Jay Berkowitz, Chris Brogan, Brian Clark, Jim Kukral, Ted Murphy, Jeremy Schoemaker, and Mari Smith have in comment? They all walk the walk when it comes to their Internet marketing expertise. And they also have joined dozens of innovators and thought shapers to share their ideas, advice, and insight.
Internet Marketing from the Real Experts is a collection of affiliate, email, blogging, podcasting, video, search engine, and social network rock stars that break down the how and why of Internet marketing in a clear, easy to understand way.
Their voices, their ideas, their action items, and their lessons learned from mistakes – all for you to grow your business the day you start reading Internet Marketing from the Real Experts.
I know that all those flattering words are really meant for the caliber of people listed on the back cover, but I’m honored to be among them in print! Better yet – all proceeds are going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Maybe now I will write that book I’ve been thinking of!
Read MoreMe, Director of Affiliate Marketing?
Yep, that’s right. As of last week I’ve resigned from PsPrint and I’m now the Director of Affiliate Marketing with New Edge Media, an awesome media agency out of Dallas, TX. I was recently in Dallas right after attending CJU and Blog World Expo to meet some coworkers, get set up, and get the ball rolling on our projects.
I’d point you to the website for my excellent new employer, however they’re so busy working their tails off for clients that the site isn’t ready yet! So for now you’ll just have to take my word that we rock :).
Dallas was a great new experience, as I’d only ever touched down in Texas on layovers on my way to the East coast. I’m so glad that I rented a car and opted for the Garmin navigational device – it was very cool to drive around the city after work was over just exploring and seeing what there was to see. I did have my very awesome boss Brandy drive me through the infamous Grassy Knoll where JFK was assassinated…it’s fairly unimpressive for such a significant place. There is a modest plaque on the ground inset into the grass, but she had to shut up my rambles before I missed that we were driving through.
So I tell you this, dear reader, so you’ll perhaps forgive me for slacking on my reports from CJU and Blog World Expo. I’ll get on that right away, if you’ll have me 🙂

Advertiser (also Merchant or Retailer):
- Any website that markets and sells goods or services. In affiliate marketing programs, advertisers contract with affiliates to get consumers to register for services, purchase products, fill out forms or visit websites.
Basically, the person paying for those leads & sales is the advertiser. In affiliate marketing, the advertiser is responsible for funding the commission pages, providing coupon codes and creative banners, text links, etc. The success of the program rests ultimately on the shoulders of the advertisers. Imaging the pressure on me at PsPrint!

Not bad considering that I haven’t been posting a lot of good content lately. I admit, I’ve been in a slump. A general lack of motivation and drive has resulted in my taking days upon days off and not blogging that much here. I’ve been spending ample time on Twitter, a good amount of time on my new fancy BlackBerry Curve, and of course doing what it is that I get paid for at PsPrint.
Actually, my hats have been expanding here. I’ve been doing more web development on small projects to assist with our overloaded graphic services department, and I’ve been doing more development of images for our e-mail campaigns. It’s nice to have something new and different to do every once in awhile; it definitely is something I’m very capable and willing to do and breaks up the monotony of staring at CJ weeding through affiliate applications.
I’ve also given myself a sabbatical on the social networking. I haven’t sent anything through StumbleUpon or Digg, and haven’t been stumbling or digging anything lately either. It was getting to be too big of a distraction during the day, and trying to get everything done was a hassle.
Now it feels like things are calming down a bit now that we’re two weeks or so out from the holiday weekend and I’ll probably be picking up where I left off on the social media stuff, ramping up and collecting tips for my roundtable discussion next month.
Do you have any social media and networking tips to share?
Read MoreNewsletter Writer’s Block
Anyone who’s been in charge of writing content for a newsletter can feel my pain. I’ve been trying to brainstorm some topics for our Reseller Newsletter, and I’m drawing a blank. While I’ve got a ton lined up for our Affiliate Newsletter, the topics just don’t cross over.
A reseller is defined as “A person who is authorized to sell someone else’s goods and/or services.” We definitely have tons, but what do these people want to know about? What good tips and advice can be given to a graphic designer or print broker looking for a resource on how to resell printing?
I admit – I’m new to writing a newsletter. I’ve often thought about starting one for my other sites, but what would I talk about month after month? It’s sometimes hard enough to come up with blog topics, let alone an entire extremely focused newsletter. I give those e-mail affiliate marketers out there a lot of credit.
I’m officially open to suggestions! Let’s do some online brainstorming here in the comments. What would you want to know more about if in this position?

Cost per Order (CPO):
- The cost metric for each time an order is transacted.
This is what we do at PsPrint. Every time an order is placed, we calculate the commission based off this amount for the affiliate. Many retail programs are similar, putting the onus on the publisher to market the product and assist in making the sale.
