Pretty in Pink Satin Nails

Ladies, follow me.  Have you ever bought a certain color of nail polish, or handbag, or shoe, or piece of jewelry because you don’t have much else in that color and might need it at some point?

Totally irrational, we know.  That’s how I found myself with this ballet-shoe pink polish, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Pink Satin.  It was on sale in a discount bin somewhere (might have been Walgreens) and I’ll admit – nothing about this color stood out to me.  It a light pink satin that reminded me of little girl’s ballet shoes and my favorite satin nightgown when I was a little girl.  It was some ridiculously low price and I remember grabbing it because I thought I’d never know when I might need a nice, simple pink to match an outfit or for some certain occasion.

I should have remembered that I own, oh, 3 light pink shirts.

Pretty Pink Satin ManicureI’m just not a pink girl.  Most of the pink clothes or jewelry I have is a hot pink, which I use very sparingly.  I’m not that into bright colors that draw a lot of attention to my size.  Go figure.  So I bought this polish with the “you never know” mentality, and it turns out, I’ve never needed it to pair with any outfit.  Keeping this in mind, I decided to take it for a test run on a week where I didn’t have anything going on to really match my nails to.  I figured a nice pink manicure would just be a filler.

For the first day, I rocked the pink by itself.  I tried.  I really did try to like it on it’s own!  But the holographic polishes I’d picked up were yelling at me.  So I thought it might be fun to pair the somewhat boring pink with the Sinful Colors Silver Rainbows (part of their Tinsel N Ice Collection) and the Nubar Nail Lacquer Hologram Glitter.  I think it gave the manicure a nice spruce that didn’t leave me yawning all week.

Will I wear this color again?  Maybe.  I’m still not convinced that I won’t need it at some point to match to some kind of costume or outfit.  It’s the Girl Scout in me – always be prepared!
