Finger Paints Poolside Paradise Collection

Originally when I grabbed these two colors I’d recently bought, I was going to attempt a star burst manicure I saw on Pinterest.  What could go wrong?  Oh, just everything.  So that’s not the manicure I ended up with, and instead I went with this random, chaotic angled half & half that probably looks familiar.  It’s similar to my Slightly Nautical Manicure, except the angle goes in the same direction on every finger.

Finger Paints Aloha Lei & Wild BikiniBefore this, my experience with the Finger Paints line of polish was limited.  I’ve seen it at Sally Beauty Supply numerous times, but nothing ever jumped out at me.  I do have a shimmery top coat from Finger Paints that I don’t use that often.  So when I saw the new 2014 Finger Paints Poolside Paradise Collection, I really loved the colors and decided to jump in and get both Finger Paints Aloha Lei (orange) and Finger Paints Wild Bikini (purple).  Orange and purple are my two favorite colors (with teal a close third), so it was a no-brainer for me to get these together.

So, for the record, this was the manicure I was attempting.  I don’t have a picture of my attempt, because it did not work as easily as this picture shows.  A number of things probably transpired to deny me a Pin Win.  I might not have waited long enough for the base of orange to dry, or I may have waited too long for the purple before dragging the toothpick through.  Either way, it was not cute.  So I scrapped that idea and grabbed my trusty striping tape to just make random angles.  I find that I almost never use striping tape alone, but usually use it as a guide and remove it.

I think it turned out pretty good.  I really like the boldness with a bit of shimmer that the Finger Paints Poolside Paradise Collection polishes both had.  Despite being a new color this summer, they’re already on clearance on the Sally Beauty Supply website, so check them out before they’re all gone!
