Opening Oakland Athletics Manicure of 2015

I have been remiss in my baseball fandom this year and it took me until the middle of June to get my ass in gear to see my Oakland Athletics in person!  Lorenza & I took advantage of her half off coupons and went to the June 19th game against the Los Angeles Angels.  I wish I could say they won, but at least I got a decent manicure out of it!

2013 Oakland Athletics Manicure

Every year for the past few years, I’ve gone out of my way to do a themed Oakland Athletics manicure for the first game of the season I got to.  Most of the time they’ve just involved variations on their colors, but this year I broke out what I had left of the Oakland Athletics 4-Pack Temporary Nail Tattoos I got a few years ago from Fanatics.com and did some experimenting.  Last year I went simple with colors and did some red baseball stitching art in my Oakland Athletics Manicure 2014 Edition, and the year before that I searched high & low for gold shatter, that you can see in my Manicure Madness post.

Hey, I actually found a second Oakland Athletics manicure I did in 2013 using the nail tattoos… guess I never shared it!  This one uses the tattoos over Maybelline Color Show Audacious Asphalt and an unknown green, but most likely it’s Wet ‘N Wild SaGreena the Teenage Witch since that’s the dark green I’ve used for A’s manicures in the past.

2015 Oakland Athletics ManicureBack to this year.  I went with a different look this year.  I wanted something like a jelly sandwich look, so I used a couple of coats of the OPI Sheer Tints I’m Never Amberassed (yellow) and then a couple of coats of OPI Sheer Tints I Can Teal You Like Me (blue) over it to achieve a green that was pretty close to the A’s green.  I cut out one of the nail tattoos and put them just on my thumbs.  Even as light as the green is using the Sheer Tints, the A really doesn’t stand up well against it.  I guess I’ll just have to break down and either use the nail tattoos on a white polish, which I’m not a huge fan of, or on bare nails, which is nearly sacrilege!

I am very happy that I experimented with the tints though.  I have only used them once or twice so far, and it’s good to know that they layer to create other colors very well.  I bought the mini 4 pack when they were first released, so I’m glad I didn’t spring for the full sized ones since I haven’t used them much, but they’re a handy little took in my arsenal!
