Disney Inspired Gifts for Sale

Posted on Sep 6, 2016 in Crafts |

With all this “down time”, I’ve been working on more creative endeavors to keep busy and work on bringing in some income.  I blame my friend Liz from TravelWithLiz.org on fueling the Disney inspired bug!  Some of the items are riffs on ideas I already added to my shop, and others are totally new… kinda!

When creating stuff, I always prefer to work with clients to wow them instead of trying to come up with ideas on my own.  I tend to come up with things, only to find that they really don’t work.  This part of my creativity is just better collaboratively than independently.  Liz is a Disney addict, a runDisney participant, and a travel agent.  So not only does she commission me for cool Disney things, but also lets me offer them to anyone else who wants one 🙂

With having basically taken the summer off to look for a new job and potentially get my own affiliate management business going (more on that later), I have kept myself sane working on my creative offerings.

Disney HTV CollageHeat Transfer Vinyl

A big part of runDisney events are the costumes that runners wear.  Some run in costumes specially designed and fabricated to accommodate running in them, but it seems most prefer to Disney Bound with their outfits.  All of these heat transfer vinyl (aka iron-on) designs were created with Liz for different themed races from Anaheim to Orlando – and Paris in a few weeks!

Some of these were designed for Liz, while others were requested by my friend Rachel for her mom and a member of the RunDisney Run Marketplace group on Facebook.  Since they were last-minute, the ones I created for Liz first (Tinker Bell & Snow White) were made using the Cricut brand of vinyl, which she reported barely stayed on throughout the day, so I re-did them for her using better quality HTV from Expressions Vinyl and discovered that the font for Snow White is a super pain to weed,  I need to redesign that one before I offer it for sale, but the Jiminy Cricket Conscious Iron-On, Everything Hurts Post-Marathon Iron-On, and the Tinker Bell Girls’ Weekend Iron-On are all currently available in my Online Shop.

I still need to decide if I’m going to offer the Mary Poppins and Belle designs shown for sale.  For Liz & Rachel’s upcoming Disney trips, I’ve also designed Lumiere (Beauty and the Beast), Captain America, another Mary Poppins, Partners statue, and Lilo & Stitch designs that have yet to be cut (the vinyl is on order).  Of course, I’ll be sure to share those when they’re done, and will probably offer the Lilo & Stitch and Partners statue designs for sale.

DisneyVinylDecalsCollageVinyl Car Decals

Ever see those oval decals on cars that say 13.1 or 26.2?  I never knew what those were until making runDisney decals!  In case you still don’t know, 13.1 is a half marathon (13.1 miles) and 26.2 is a marathon (26.2 miles).  I’d seen these done before by many folks, so decided to offer my own Mickey Marathon Distance Decals.  In talking to Liz and some other friends that actually participate in runDisney races, I went on to develop the Minnie Marathon Distance Decal, Princess Marathon Distance Decal, and the very popular Eiffel Tower Mickey Marathon Distance Decal to celebrate those running the inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon on September 23-25, 2016.

A couple other ideas struck me.  I’ve seen the shirts with the castle and “home” and decided to put my own spin on it, using the iconic Disney font instead of the boring typewriter style font used most often.  I added the Disney Castle Home Decal to my shop, as well as a Mickey Swirl Vinyl Decal for a fun spin on Mickey.  I know that all of these Disney inspired gifts really make me happy, and I hope that they make my customers happy, too!  Every time I make a little Disney bobble, I really wish I were planning another trip to Disneyland!  I’m hoping I’m still able to go with friends in February to Walt Disney World, but that somewhat depends on you!
