Link Glossary: FFA Link Farm

Posted on Mar 26, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

FFA Link Farm:

  • A link farm ffa or (Free For All) are farms where anyone can add a link. Many of these ffa/link farms have been banned.

From what I’ve been noticing they seem to have been replaced by directory listings. These are nearly free for all’s, but they do involve some moderation from the webmasters to filter out blatant spam or inappropriate content.

Link Glossary: On-Page Factors

Posted on Mar 24, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

On Page Factors:

  • Ranking criteria that can be found on a web page. These factors include: text on the page, meta-tags, keyword density, keyword proximity, etc.

A brief word about some factors. Some people don’t seem to understand the importance of meta-tags, but they’re vital for SEO and SEM. Meta-tags increase the attractiveness of your website to search engines. Keyword density is also a must; if you are looking to improve your organic search results for a particular keyword, you must include that word in the text on your page at least 4 times as a rule of thumb.

Analytics Glossary: Scenario Analysis

Posted on Mar 18, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Scenario Analysis:

  • A report showing the amount of activity at each step of a defined scenario, plus conversion rates for each transition from step to step as well as for the whole process. Examples of scenarios are check-out, registration, or application sequences.

Very much like conversion funnel, you should check all the processes on your website on a regular basis to update them and improve the user interface. The easiest way to get behind competitors in your industry is to fall behind in technology and ease of experience.

Well, that concludes my analytics glossary series. I hope you’ve learned as much as I have! If you have suggestions for any other glossary series you’d like to see, shoot me an email at Blog@TrishaLyn.com

Google Buys DoubleClick – Googlezilla Attacks!

Posted on Mar 11, 2008 in Rambles |

It’s official! Google has closed the deal and purchased online marketing agency DoubleClick, who also run affiliate network DoubleClick Performics. There are already graphics up on the DoubleClick and Performics homepages announcing the merger. According to Performics it’s business as usual and the two companies will work independently for now.

There’s no word yet on how this merger will affect Google’s amazingly successful AdWords or the ever growing Performics, both tools of the successful affiliate. It’s easy to speculate that eventually both will be rolled into one mega-monster network offering PPC, CPA, and CPC opportunities for affiliates. Truth is that we just don’t know. While that seems it would be the obvious long term goal, Google is known for innovation and could completely knock our socks off with something else in store. Only time will tell!

Analytics Glossary: Psychographics

Posted on Mar 11, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Psychographics:

  • Data used to build customer segments based on attitudes, values, beliefs and opinions as opposed to factual characteristics such as age and gender.

Many lead generation tools and services lump psychographics in with all of their demographics. Keep a keen eye out to watch for this both in separate categories and lumped in. It’s a valuable asset to have when deciding who to market very targeted products to. Avoid the egg on your face that could occur if you try to sell heavy metal music to conservative church-goers!
