January’s Nail Stuffs Haul & Manicures

Last month was a big month for me in my nail art and acquisition of supplies.  I already mentioned in my polish addict confessional that I have added over 30 new polishes to my collection.  The bulk of these 30 came during January, from various sources.  Apparently people think I have a modicum of influence, so let’s get on with this!

J’Adore Vox Box Goodies

J’Adore Vox Box Goodies

I was so excited to receive my 3rd Influenster Vox Box last week I could barely contain myself!  While the last two boxes, the #CSMTKO Box and the Meaningful Beauty Box, have been focused on one brand, this box was the largest yet and contained several awesome items.

J'Adore Vox Box from Influenster

Within a bright pink, festive box came an assortment of goodies in the J’Adore Vox Box, some I could use (or devour) right away and one or two that will take some time before I can get to them.  Contained inside were:

  • A Family Size bag of HERSHEY KISSES Milk Chocolate
  • 4 bags of tea from Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas (3 in Creme Caramel and 1 Lemon Chiffon)
  • A trial size bottle of John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray
  • Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask
  • Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes

Some folks on Influenster also received a bottle of the new Vaseline Men Spray Lotion, but I was not one of those lucky ones.  I guess it is just as well since they asked for a video of your man spraying it on, and I don’t think I could wrangle the husband into that 🙂

Of course, I immediately started diving into the kisses.  Hershey may be the most synonymous with childhood chocolate, at least for me, so there’s something about a simple, classic Hershey Kiss that always takes me back.  I was reluctant, but since it is a Family Size bag, I was good and shared some.  I’m a slow chocolate eater, so the bag is still sitting on my desk for when I get a sweet craving.   I also took the advice of the Hershey Kiss badge on Influenster and looked up their recipes involving kisses… I pinned a cheesecake recipe I know I’ll be trying at some point!

Red Rose Simply Indulgent TeasI put the teas in by my Keurig, however I have yet to drink them yet.  They are caffeinated black teas, which I try not to drink at night and usually take with some milk, which I’ve been out of.  Sooner or later, probably this weekend, I’ll get over to the grocery store to replenish my milk supply and try the tea in the morning.  Since I’m not a coffee drinker, I always forget to make it in the morning on a work day, so a weekend will likely be my best bet to try the Red Rose Simply Indulgent Tea Creme Caramel!  I’m not a fan of lemon, in general, so if anyone wants the one Lemon Chiffon bag, it’s individually wrapped and sealed and I’ll mail it lovingly to anyone who asks!

Next in the J’Adore Vox Box, I’m really excited to try the John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray.  However, since I usually have no patience for straightening my hair since it’s long, I’m also waiting until Friday to do this.  I have plans every evening this weekend, so taking the time Friday afternoon to try the spray will really put the 3-day claim to the test!  The Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask will also be tried on Friday, since I’m putting effort into my appearance with the hair and all!  Look out for those photos on Instagram and a review here!

Now, for the one that will have to wait QUITE some time before I know how good it is… the Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes.  I have never worn false eyelashes.  I’ve instead gone to great lengths (get it?) to find a mascara that gives me some semblance of a false lash look.  Truth of the matter is that I’m scared of the glue.  Terrified.  So I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to wait until a really nice occasion to use the eyelashes, or go for broke and just try them out some evening on a whim.

I ask for your advice – do I have something to be scared about?  Are lashes hard to put on or surprisingly easy?  What are your best tips and tricks?

Christmas Manicures

Christmas Manicures

In December I got a bit more daring with my manicures and decided to get nuts with the nail art.  I’d seen a lot of super cute Christmas manicures that I wanted to try.  I had some time off, and the hubs and I were driving up to Oregon (on Christmas eve, no less) to visit his family for a few days, so I wanted something special.  Something that would attract attention.  Since I was actually going to be outside of the house for days on end (I work at home), I want someone other than my husband to notice my nails!

Polish Addict? Yeah, I Think So…

Polish Addict? Yeah, I Think So…

Hello, my name is Trisha, and I am a nail polish addict.

At least, I think I am, thanks to a keen eye for discounted polishes and my Julep Maven subscription.  I never set out to be a polish addict, but somehow that’s where I’ve found myself.  Most of the time when I get a new polish, I use it right away, or at least within the next couple of weeks.  Since December, I’ve added at least 33 new polishes to my collection, some of which were provided to me by affiliate managers and Influenster (see Disclosure Policy) but most I saw on other nail blogs or in the store and purchased.

Julep Mavens & Why YOU Should Be One, Too!

Julep Mavens & Why YOU Should Be One, Too!

I am so glad that I finally took the leap and signed up for Julep’s Maven subscription box!  I only recently discovered the one-coat awesomeness that is Julep polish, but I was still resistant to signing up.  I’ve avoided most other subscription boxes like BirchBox and BarkBox as I couldn’t image that I’d actually want everything that came in each month’s box.  After talking to some other Mavens, I decided that I’d at least take advantage of the Free starter box offer and give it a couple of months to see if I’d really like it.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Review #CSMTKO

Is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure a TKO to other polishes?  Pretty damn close!  The good folks at Influenster decided that I was a good candidate for their #CSMTKO Vox Box, and I was very happy to give the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes another shot.  I have one that I love, Mermaid’s Tale (click for picture), but I never really thought of it as not requiring a base or top coat since it’s a glitter polish.  When Sally Hansen first launched this line a few years ago I bought a bottle while on a business trip and needing a quick manicure and it wasn’t really all it was cracked up to be.
