Julep Mavens & Why YOU Should Be One, Too!

Posted on Jan 31, 2014 in Manicures, Sales | 2 comments

I am so glad that I finally took the leap and signed up for Julep’s Maven subscription box!  I only recently discovered the one-coat awesomeness that is Julep polish, but I was still resistant to signing up.  I’ve avoided most other subscription boxes like BirchBox and BarkBox as I couldn’t image that I’d actually want everything that came in each month’s box.  After talking to some other Mavens, I decided that I’d at least take advantage of the Free starter box offer and give it a couple of months to see if I’d really like it.

Julep Maven Box February 2014 Swatches

And man, do I?  I’ve only received two boxes so far – my starter box with It Girl style, and the February Maven Box.  I knew exactly what I would get in the starter box considering I picked it and it told me it would come with Elle, Libby, & Bunny (all the colors have women’s names).  I received it, nicely enough, and it also contained a little sample of Blank Canvas Mattifying Face Primer.  Cool bonus – I’ve been hearing more about using primers before foundation but didn’t want to pull the trigger on an expensive bottle, so now I can test it.  February’s box, I decided, would be a real test since I had no idea what I’d receive.

The box arrived yesterday and I was DEFINITELY happy with my score.  4 bottles of polish arrived, a very glittery, glam, sparkly selection, of Roc Solid (the one non-glitter), Diamond Theory, Glam Roc (which is “Stardust Finish”, the Julep version of a textured polish), and Love.  Instantly, I fell, well, in love with Love.  It’s pink but also champagne with delicate little red sparkles that aren’t overpowering – perfect for a quick Valentine’s Day manicure!

I won’t be redoing my nails until later today, but I always add new polishes to my reels when I get them, so take a look.  This quick picture doesn’t quite do the glittery goodness justice, but it’s close enough!  If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll see a picture of my new mani later… not sure if I’m going to dive right into these Julep beauties or one of the other polishes I’ve picked up recently and been hoarding 🙂  Stay tuned!

Julep Maven Free Box

So far I’m proud to be a Julep Maven.  Not only did I get some kick ass polishes, and definitely got my moneys worth, but I got a first look at their innovative Plié Wand and got in on the ground floor to reserve my set ahead of time!  More on that wonder later!

Julep Beauty’s Maven subscription box is definitely worth the price.  The polishes are one-coat perfection (mostly, some of these glitters needed 2 on my swatches) and getting them before they can be purchased makes ya feel special!  I mean, come on, check out these benefits!

You should know what you are getting in your Maven box! I guess if you really want to be totally surprised every month you can choose to be, but that seems like a wasted opportunity to me. The window opens on the 20th of the month, and you can see then what comes in all of the different boxes. And then you can pick whichever box you want! If you prefer the colors in one of the other boxes, you don’t have to go with It Girl. You have until the 24th of the month to lock down your choices. Then they start shipping out on the 27th.

Yes I totally forgot to mention that part! I missed the window on my first box because I was sick, but I’m excited to poke around and choose my colors for my March box 🙂
