Keyword Density:

  • The number of repetitions of a keyword as a percentage of the total word count of a web page.  For example, if a web page has 200 total words on it and 20 of them are keyword advertising, then the keyword advertising has a 10% keyword density on the page.

glossary bookThis is key for SEO, as the higher a keyword’s density the more likely you are to get that organic search traffic for that keyword.  There are a number of tools out there to help you analyze your keyword density, such as the one SEO Tools provides.  I’ve heard different people in the SEO world say different things about the number you should aim for, but what I do know is that there’s no formula to pinpoint that number for you.
