January’s Nail Stuffs Haul & Manicures
Last month was a big month for me in my nail art and acquisition of supplies. I already mentioned in my polish addict confessional that I have added over 30 new polishes to my collection. The bulk of these 30 came during January, from various sources. Apparently people think I have a modicum of influence, so let’s get on with this!

In December I got a bit more daring with my manicures and decided to get nuts with the nail art. I’d seen a lot of super cute Christmas manicures that I wanted to try. I had some time off, and the hubs and I were driving up to Oregon (on Christmas eve, no less) to visit his family for a few days, so I wanted something special. Something that would attract attention. Since I was actually going to be outside of the house for days on end (I work at home), I want someone other than my husband to notice my nails!

Hello, my name is Trisha, and I am a nail polish addict.
At least, I think I am, thanks to a keen eye for discounted polishes and my Julep Maven subscription. I never set out to be a polish addict, but somehow that’s where I’ve found myself. Most of the time when I get a new polish, I use it right away, or at least within the next couple of weeks. Since December, I’ve added at least 33 new polishes to my collection, some of which were provided to me by affiliate managers and Influenster (see Disclosure Policy) but most I saw on other nail blogs or in the store and purchased.

I am so glad that I finally took the leap and signed up for Julep’s Maven subscription box! I only recently discovered the one-coat awesomeness that is Julep polish, but I was still resistant to signing up. I’ve avoided most other subscription boxes like BirchBox and BarkBox as I couldn’t image that I’d actually want everything that came in each month’s box. After talking to some other Mavens, I decided that I’d at least take advantage of the Free starter box offer and give it a couple of months to see if I’d really like it.

Is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure a TKO to other polishes? Pretty damn close! The good folks at Influenster decided that I was a good candidate for their #CSMTKO Vox Box, and I was very happy to give the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes another shot. I have one that I love, Mermaid’s Tale (click for picture), but I never really thought of it as not requiring a base or top coat since it’s a glitter polish. When Sally Hansen first launched this line a few years ago I bought a bottle while on a business trip and needing a quick manicure and it wasn’t really all it was cracked up to be.

I admit, I got lazy! I went to get a professional manicure. Let me tell you, for as much as I tend to mess up my own manicures and get polish on my fingers sometimes, this lady was no better! I even had to ask her to get some remover to take it off – she was just going to leave it! UGH. So, back to doing my own.
I’ve been spending a lot of time crafting lately (more on that after Christmas once all gifts have been opened) so I haven’t done a ton of stuff with my nails. I even let them ride without polish for a few weeks because I read an article saying it was healthy for them to be polish-free sometimes. After a ton of breaking and chipping and peeling (yes, it’s as uncomfortable as it sounds) I quickly went back to putting on at least a clear coat and they’ve started to shape up & fly right.
