Posted on Dec 21, 2010 in Affiliate Marketing, Affiliate Marketing Fanatics, Conferences & Networking |

Affiliate Marketing Fanatics – A couple of hyper-caffeinated affiliate marketers (Mike Buechele) and (Trisha Lyn Fawver) talk about all things Affiliate Marketing. From blogging to branding, social media to search, video and more!

We’re continuing our series of interviews with some speakers at Affiliate Summit West 2011, taking place at the Wynn Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas. This time, we talk to Amanda Orson about her origins in affiliate marketing & her panel “Local Lead Generation – Heaven & Hell”. Unfortunately, her co-panelist Ad Hustler was unable to join us. In in this episode we discuss:

  • You might know Amanda better as @Phillian on Twitter (got questions for their panel, ask now)!
  • Amanda got her start by picking up a copy of The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss and reading up on WickedFire.com.
  • They’ll be looking at things from both an SEO approach and an SEM approach.
  • Find good PPC stuff on Chad Frederiksen’s blog CDF Networks.
  • Mike’s interest in how the local lead gen can be worked into Pay Per Call technologies.
  • Amanda says don’t come for her, come for Ad Hustler!

Online Marketing Glossary: Lead Generation

Posted on Sep 26, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Lead Generation:

  • Websites that generate leads for products or services offered by another company.  On a lead generation site, the visitor completes a contact form to get more information about a product or service.  The submitted contact form is counted as a lead.

glossary bookWhile it’s easier on some levels to generate a lead than a sale since no money is involved initially on the consumer’s end, leads are trickier nuts to crack.  Merchants often must batch lead payments due to the inevitable scrubs, dupes, and just bad leads.

Online Marketing Glossary: Commission Rate

Posted on Jun 26, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Commission Rate:

  • The rate of income an affiliate receives for generating a sale, lead, or click throughs to a merchant’s website.

glossary bookMost commission rates, by and large, are percentage based when using the CPS model.  Most click through programs or lead gen programs, however, use a flat fee to pay out on leads and clicks.

Analytics Glossary: Psychographics

Posted on Mar 11, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Psychographics:

  • Data used to build customer segments based on attitudes, values, beliefs and opinions as opposed to factual characteristics such as age and gender.

Many lead generation tools and services lump psychographics in with all of their demographics. Keep a keen eye out to watch for this both in separate categories and lumped in. It’s a valuable asset to have when deciding who to market very targeted products to. Avoid the egg on your face that could occur if you try to sell heavy metal music to conservative church-goers!

Analytics Glossary: Frequency

Posted on Feb 14, 2008 in Affiliate Marketing |

Frequency:

  • The number of times a visitor has visited a site during a reporting period. Average Frequency is the average of all visitors’ frequencies during the reporting period. Frequency is a retention metric and part of RFM (recency, frequency, monetary) analysis.

This goes hand in hand with bounce rate, which tells you how many people leave your website after visiting a certain page. Generating leads and driving traffic is important, but you have to make your website sticky… once they’re there, make them want to stay and come back. Monitor this with the frequency data and bounce rates.
