Happy Valentine’s Day 2015!
As you may have imagined, it’s been a hard 30 days or so for me. Losing Winston, then a whirlwind of a conference in Las Vegas for Affiliate Summit West 15, then getting the annual “Conference Crud” flu and passing it to my brother and husband, well… let’s just say my Christmas tree has turned into a Super Bowl Birthday Valentine’s Day tree.
Meet Lunchbox
You can read the back story of how I acquired both of my cats, Muse and Lunchbox, where I invited you to Meet Muse. To further explain why my cat is named Lunchbox and not Silent Bob, you can watch Dogma. When Jay & Silent Bob first meet Bethany, Jay calls Silent Bob “Lunchbox”. I thought it fit well and was more unique than just naming my cat Silent Bob. So Lunchbox is his name, and he’s lived up to it. He rarely makes any sounds, unless he’s hissing or trying to get my attention to feed him. He’s not super fat, but compared to little Muse he’s pretty robust. He’s definitely the yin to her yang being the opposite combination of white & black with white being his primary color.
This should give you some idea of the scale between the two of them. Of course, she’s curled up into a ball and he’s stretched out, but if you focus on the size of their paws and heads you should see the difference. Since they’ve been together their whole lives, they usually get along very well. Being the dominant male, he’s a little aggressive (I think the vet who fixed him botched it slightly) from time to time with her, but generally he’s a snuggle bunny who’s very loving.
Before moving to this house, I’d definitely have called Lunchbox more of a snuggler than Muse, but they share the title now. We were moving around every couple of years for the first 4 years of their lives, so maybe that affected them. Now that we’ve been here for 6 years, they know where they’re at and know that it’s home.
One of the reasons I’m posting about my cats this week is because this week is their birthday week. We adopted them when they were about six weeks old and backtracked it to about July 15th. So my kitties are 10 this week! I love my cats, despite the typical pet owner issues I have with them, and I hope for another10 snuggly years with my kitties!

I haven’t had the chance to do very many of these during February… the month was filled with birthday celebrations, a vacation, and a lot of Wii in the evening since I’ve been strangely obsessed with Guitar Hero and Animal Crossing: City Folk. But since I’ve been back from vacation I’ve seen some great stuff, so I want to share.
Forgive me, some of it will be a bit out of date.
- Geno Prussakov put together a great list of affiliate marketing events in 2009.
- California is looking into a tax for online sales. Scott Jangro has written an open letter to the California outlining why it’s a bad idea. I am going to take his advice and grab the letter to send myself as a resident of California.
- Read the full California Assembly Bill 178 and contact your representatives to explain why this is a bad idea for affiliate marketers in California!
- 20/20 contacted the Performance Marketing Alliance for some background on affiliate marketing for a series they’re doing on the proliferation of work-at-home schemes. It’s good to see that they’re able to do some positive PR for the industry already… very promising since they’re off to a slow start.
- I wrote another guest post for Marketing Pilgrim, this time on The Search Engine Known as Twitter.

They Say It’s MY Birthday!
Yes, I’m stepping closer and closer to the abyss.
Right now – at this VERY MOMENT OF 12:32pm PST – I just turned 28.
What? You didn’t hear anything? Well, just imagine muffled screams mixed with maniacal laughter and you’ll be close. I go back and forth between looking at some aspects of my life and wondering how I did so little by this age, but then I look at others and remember how hard I’ve worked to get that far so fast.
I’m takin’ the day off, so re-posting a meme type thing that Julie posted in her blog Julie’s Journal last month on her birthday.

A Happy Blog Birthday to Me!
In my hustle and bustle lately, I neglected to realize that I’ve been blogging “semi-pro” as I refer to it for a full year. I went back to see some of my earlier posts from last August and was reminded of this one – Hats, Hats, Everywhere! Could it be that it was just a year ago that I was still managing PsPrint’s mailing services? It’s also sad to say that I was “in charge of” social media marketing – a project that never took off on the company level, but I’ve obviously been running strong with it.
It feels like it’s been much longer than just a year that I’ve been at this, but I have to say that I’ve learned so much in a year that it’s incredible. In many ways this blog as served as a gateway to that knowledge and opportunities that I’ve been given. I’ll never be able to thank this little blog enough lol.
I wish I’d discovered Google Analytics sooner so I don’t have complete data, but thank you to the 16,000+ visitors this year that stopped by. Thanks for spending those few minutes to check out what I’ve been spewing out there into the webverse. I hope you’ve come by more than once. Told your friends. Subscribed despite my trials and tribulations in getting a freakin’ feed to work properly. And come by despite going through three URL changes…
Stay Classy, Interwebs.
